Tsavo East National Park is one of the oldest and largest parks in Kenya at 13,747 square kilometres. Situated in a semi-arid area previously known as the Taru Desert it opened in April 1948, and is located near the town of Voi in the Taita-Taveta County of the former Coast Province
The allure of a Tsavo East Safari in the famous Tsavo East National Park has the unassuming view of dust-red elephant rolling and spraying each other with the midnight blue waters of palm-shaded Galana River is one of the most reminiscent images in Africa. This, along with the stretch of 300 kilometer long Yatta Plateau, the longest lava flow in the world, make for an adventure unlike any other in the Tsavo East. The park forms the largest protected area in Kenya and is home to most of the larger mammals, vast herds of dust –red elephant, Rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, pods of hippo, crocodile, waterbucks, lesser Kudu, gerenuk and the prolific bird life features 500 recorded species.
Day 1 (Nairobi – Voi)
This being the first day of your trip, you will depart from Nairobi SGR Terminus at 8.20 am and arrive at Voi station at 12.30pm. At Voi station, you will be picked by Gempack Safaris Limited tour guide and driver and taken to Voi Wildlife Lodge, where you will check in, have lunch and relax for some time.
Embark for an evening game drive at the park where we will be looking out for Elephants, Lions, Buffalos, Cheetahs, Giraffes and Antelopes that makes Tsavo East Safari memorable.
Drive back to the lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 2: Tsavo East Safari, Game Drive
We shall depart for the morning game drive after breakfast. We will be looking out for the big 5 animals in the vast national park of Tsavo.
Later in the afternoon, we shall drive back to the lodge for lunch and relax for some time. Later in the evening, embark on yet another game drive in other parts of the park.
Return to the lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 3: Voi – Nairobi
Have an early morning game drive before breakfast. Return to lodge for checkout before 9.00 am. We shall be driven to Voi SGR station for departure to Nairobi by train. Arrival in Nairobi at 1.42 pm marks the end of our 3 day Tsavo trip.
